What does it mean to STAND OUT?

March 30th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Are you utilizing your talents and strengths to their full potential? Do people tell you on a regular basis that you are good at what you do? Do you feel confident in the quality of work you produce? Are you noticed, acknowledged and recognized for the work you do whether it is by the people in your community, in the workplace or your family?

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions…then…you are an individual that STANDS OUT!

STAND OUT means to be noticed, acknowledged and recognized for one’s positive contributions in life, school and work!  Jermaine M. Davis, Co-Founder of The Stand Out Leadership Company, and I believe that you will inevitably STAND OUT when you use your unique talents, abilities, gifts and skills (TAGS). Whether you are in a traditional work environment, in an academic institution, non-profit, are an entrepreneur, a volunteer, a parent, a sibling or work within your home you have the ability and the opportunity to STAND OUT!

You might be asking yourself a few questions right now:  What if I don’t want to STAND OUT?  What if I like playing on the sidelines?  What if to STAND OUT means that I am promoting myself too much where people might think that I am self-serving and egotistical?  What if to STAND OUT means that I am drawing too much attention to myself?  Well, I have an answer for you!  To STAND OUT as an individual does not mean you bring unnecessary or undeserving attention to yourself.  To STAND OUT does not mean that you are an attention-starved, narcissistic egomaniac.  Please make STANDING OUT a new part of your thinking and awareness:  There is nothing wrong with celebrating your achievements, accomplishments and results!!

So STAND UP, STAND TALL and STAND OUT in all you do!
